Rebecca Flemming
Founder & Principal of RFDance
Hi, I’m Rebecca, the proud owner and principal of RFDance and Atherton Academy. Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and my journey to becoming a dance teacher has been anything but traditional! I started dancing at just 2 years old, training in ballet, tap, and modern. At age 9, I took a break from dance to pursue gymnastics, then transitioned into football at 11, playing competitively until I was 18. But dance was always in my heart, and at 14, I returned to the studio, training in Jazz, Lyrical, and Commercial. Coming from a family of teachers, I was always surrounded by education and knew from an early age that my true passion wasn’t in performing—it was in teaching. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing the excitement on a student’s face when they achieve something they once thought was impossible. I studied dance throughout school, college, and university, earning my degree in Dance in 2014. Alongside my studies, I began teaching at a dance school at just 14 years old, working every Saturday morning until I was 21. At 22, I took a leap of faith and opened my first dance school in Shaw, and I haven’t looked back since! My mission has always been to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring space for young dancers to discover the same love for dance that I did. In 2022, I was shortlisted for Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and in 2023, I took on my biggest challenge yet—purchasing Atherton Academy. I knew the incredible community we had built in Shaw could grow into something even greater, and I wanted to share that same passion with even more young dancers and their families. Watching Atherton Academy flourish and become part of the RFDance family has been an incredible journey, and I’m so excited for what the future holds!
I teach a wide variety of styles, but my absolute favourite classes are Acro and Lyrical. I also teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Aerial Hoop & Silk, Technique, and Flexibility. My goal is to inspire, encourage, and uplift every student who walks through our doors, helping them grow in both skill and confidence. RFDance isn’t just about learning steps—it’s about building friendships, finding joy, and being part of a family. I’m beyond grateful for this journey and can’t wait to see our dancers continue to shine!
